Pastry Cook (PT)

Salary/Hourly Rate: $13.65 - $15.35 Per Hour

OakView Health Center is currently hiring a part time Pastry Cook.

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

The Pastry Chef is responsible for producing quality desserts and pastries for all dining rooms across the community.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES: 

  • Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours and determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily dessert and pastry menus. Ensures that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food are preserved
  • Responsible for preparing quality desserts and pastries per standardized recipes.
  • Schedules daily work assignments for the pastry team, assigning specific jobs and spot checking to ensure standards are met.  Coaches the pastry team, ensuring staff members are properly trained and appropriately skilled.
  • Follows all safety procedures when handling kitchen equipment and complies with department sanitation standards and personal hygiene/uniform standards.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum of two years experience as a pastry chef in a hotel, restaurant, club or similar fine dining establishment
  • Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Knowledge of nutrition and diet
